.Week 38 • Smirk Photo Challenge

What's a smirk?

According to definition it says "A smirk refers to a smile evoking insolence, scorn, or offensive smugness."

But to a child who has a mommy as a photographer... a smirk could also mean that "super annoyed" half cheesy smile they give you when you tell them to say cheese. You know that look of irritation... that look of offensiveness... As a photographer you know what I am talking about when you settle for that "smirk" photo because you know that unless you want to re shoot over and over... this is the best you can get without getting irritated! Such as this one...

STOP!!!

BEWARE!

Before you move forward... our family is die hard Boise State Bronco Fans... so this photo may offend you if you don't like Boise State!!! GO BRONCOS!! Where we play on the blue turf! :D

I say Madison "Smile" and she gives me these have cheesy... "smirky smile" poses! Anyone got a new kid I can borrow until my daughter outgrows this phase?

Want to see more smirkness? Then visit http://www.iheartfaces.com/ and while your at it enter your own smirkness to the mix!

Join me here! I always love to hear from my friends

Week 25 • “Celebrating Teens” Photo Challenge

Being a teenager brings back so many memories. I wish I could go back in time and change so many things about my H.S. years. If I knew then what I know now... I would forget the petty things like popularity, I would forget boys... cause they truly were just a waste of time then... and I would focus on myself, my girl friends, my grades and my future. I made a lot of mistakes growing up as a teenager. I think I caused most of the grey hairs on my mom's head but it brought me to who I am today. I am happy. I am proud. I am hardworking, honest and fair. I have a great husband, 3 wonderful kids and a career that I love. God has truly blessed me... although it probably was not deserved.

Have you ever heard that song by Garth Brooks called "Unanswered Prayers?" This song always brings me back to my H.S. years. I remember the prayers that I prayed to Him. The things I thought I wanted or needed. But now I know that God knew better and I am so thankful that His plan was so much better then My plan.

This week at http://www.iheartfaces.com/ we are celebrating teens. so my entry is below. Two very special teen girls and the boy that they are both are in love with! And don't boys have a great way of showing their love back? Go visit other great entries here.

Week 24 • “All About Babies” Photo Challenge!

Yeah perfect timing for me! I just photographed this adorable newborn yesterday! Since I no longer have babies running around in my household... I have to beg, borrow and steal those that do have them... I put them through hours of photo nonsense... and my only hope is that parents will put up with me long enough to get that "perfect shot" that every photographer dreams of... So with that in mind... here is my sweet newborn shot... He is pure delight!

to see some more great entries visit http://www.iheartfaces.com/. You will definately get any baby fix you need this week!

Week 23 • Play Photo Challenge

This one just touches my heart... this was taken over Mother's Day weekend of my daughter and her Nana. It may be one of the few photos I get to have of Madison sitting in Nana's lap. Here they were captured being silly and singing a song. I love Nana's expression and Madison's blank stare. I love that both of them have their hands up... I love the perfect lighting against Madi's blue eyes... To see more photos visit http://iheartfaces.blogspot.com/.

- Fresh and Colorful action (Reduced opacity to my liking)
- Color Boost
- Stretched only the right side of the image to add writing

Week 17 - “Smiles” Photo Challenge!

This week at http://www.iheartfaces.com/ is all about smiles! Who doesn't love a good smile photo! This was taken a few weekends ago. I chose this one to enter because I absolutely love it! I love it because this photo was so fun to take! We had the little girl run into the arms of her parents and so when this was captured it was all genuine and not staged. it was fun, unique and it became my favorite photo from that session. They were such a beautiful family too!!

Week 16 - Collages Photo Challenge - I Heart Faces

This weeks theme at http://www.iheartfaces.com/ is photo collages. The idea is to enter multiple photos into a collage. Now it didn't say I couldn't do a collage annoucement on the rules so this will be my entry. This is especially special to me because I made this annoucement for my sweet little niece whom I had the opportunity to photograph this weekend. If you need a baby fix you came to the right place! I hope you enjoy because she is pure bliss and what I call a glimpse of heaven!

The other cool part about this collage is the "K" letter displayed by her name below was actually a photo I took from baby Kennadie's room. You will find this "K" above her crib. I just thought it was a unique way to display the special touch her mommy added to her room. I know most people won't know where it came from, but for mommy I think it will mean so much! Thanks for looking!

Week 13- Dramatic B&W

I ran out of time to take a more current photo. But this one was taken back in January of my niece for her 3rd Birthday. I love the photo... I love it in black and white, the girl's eyes... I just think it is a great photo all around. McKynlee (the birthday girl in the middle) has this face of... "Are we done yet so I can finish my cake!" LOL!

To see more great photos go to http://www.iheartfaces.com/ and join in on the fun!

Week 11 - “Bundled Up” Photo Challenge

This week's theme at http://www.iheartfaces.com/ is "All Bundled Up".

This photo means the world to me because it was taken this year of my son Jacob who just this year learned to ski. He is fortunate enough to have an uncle who was able to teach him. My son is so good in fact that just last night during family dinner his Uncle Jack asked us to put a budget together so that next year we could get him on a ski team. Jack says that he is so amazing that he thinks he could go to the Olympics if given the opportunity....

Now the other story to this is Jack has been letting him watch extreme skiing videos on youtube.... YIKES! My son is fascinated... while mom is.... well... scared to death! My son wants to jump out of a helicopter onto a mountain that is seriously a cliff and ski down it....

But back to reality here... my son is so good that he is going down "Black Diamond Hills" which here at Bogus Basin are the most advanced and difficult hills. He ski's backwards down the hills, he started recently going off some of the jumps. I guess Jack took him to the area where snowboarders do all their cool tricks, and Jake watched a few times, got up and did the things they were doing....

To say he is amazing is no exaggeration. Considering he has had no formal training and just learned this year to ski plus he is only 6 years old is absolutely amazing. He loves it.... it makes him happy and I couldn't be more proud of my little man. So maybe this isn't a winning photo... but he is a winner to me! He truly is a gifted boy and I am so proud to call him my son! I love you Jakey!

P.S.
Dear Lord
Please take this idea of extreme skiing out of my son's head... and keep him safe.... his mommy wants grandchildren some day.

Amen
