My Birth Story - Boise Idaho Newborn - Child Photographer

I can't take credit for the photos :) BUT it was used with my camera, by my husband, with my settings so technically I did half the work.

I have been asked to share my birth story with Katie and I am happy to say it was a good one (for the most part). Friday I went into what I thought was labor. Went to the doctors and they said I was having braxton hicks contractions, wasn't dilating and showed no signs of labor for at least a few more days. i was disappointed for sure.

Saturday I felt tired all day. No energy, we had company over for dinner and I felt anti-social and just wanting to sleep. By that night I woke up at 1am having contractions. Assuming they were false contractions I went back to bed. Woke up again and still having them. I packed my bags (just in case), showered, got dressed and told my husband that MAYBE it was the start of labor. '

By ten in the morning on Sunday they were progressing but not really enough where I felt I needed to go to the hospital. I just went on a cleaning frenzy and cleaned every inch of my house. Around noon I decided to just go in and see what the doc said... I was about 50% sure I might  be going in labor but wouldn't have been surprised if they sent me home.

I had my husband drop me off in the front of the parking lot so I could get up to triage and he parked the car. I went to triage and by that point contractions "STOPPED!" Zip, zero, none... so annoyed. I went in and I said well I thought I was in labor but not sure, but can you just check and see before calling my doctor to see if there is any progress?" The nurse probably thought I was crazy... and they did admit to patients that came in after me... before me.... ha ha! So I guess you can say they didn't think I was in labor.

Finally they put me in a room. 20 minutes later a nurse comes in and asks me about a million questions and then says okay lets check you. And if only you could see her expression. She says "Ummm... your at a seven... lets call the doc now and get you a room!"

So within 5 minutes I was in a room waiting for delivery and within another 20 minutes of that baby Katie came into the world. No epidural, thankfully my doctor was already in the hospital delivering another baby and was able to make it. She came out screaming.... she still screams. She is a month old.. and not the easy baby I hoped for, but she is perfect and she is my little angel and I couldn't imagine my life without her. I wish we had taken more photos of her birth and the first breaths she took... but everything got so rushed that there was no time for photos. My labor was not painful... weird huh? I mean it wasn't pleasant but all in all I cannot complain and she is worth every moment, every pound and every minute of lost sleep I have had :)

Please enjoy the photos and everything I posted is PG :)
